Found this interesting pokey weed/flower? in Colorado. I have no clue what it is but I think fresh fallen snow can make just about anything amazingly beautiful... :) :)

Wow - what a gorgeous post! It does look a little frightening with the prickleys.... the snow is a wonderful addition!

I like your name for the thistle. Pokey Weed just about sums it up.
The snow on the spines really makes a beautiful picture.

Hi Renee,

It has been quite a while hasn't it. Isn't Colorado a wonderful place to take pictures? Your shots are great! I love this weed but I have no idea what it is. The snow is a great addition. Bet you don't see much of that in Hawaii.

Take care

Mike

Your pokey weed is called teasel.

Teasel was transplanted here from Europe and has spread across America, apparently from coast to coast. For more information on teasel and its uses visit ‘Ol Womtig and womtig.blogspot.com

I was going to tell you it was teasel, but I see the resident teasel expert has been here already :)

The snow really makes the photograph, although the teasel alone would have been interesting enough. Great pic!

I think it may be "Teasel"(at least it looks much like the teasel which grows in Pennsylvania}, but whatever it is it is a great shot and the others are excellent as well. The trees with the yellow leaves are stunning!
